You Know What I REALLY Hate?

Jerks who loudly announce that they'll "never support any of [my] endevors," like the World's Mightiest Mortals group on Yahoo or my Fawcett Universe website, on the DC Message Boards, then turn around and try signing up on either or both.

Most of these "guys" who claim they "don't support" my sites use multiple IDs and phony e-mail addresses to register on my forums and are only there to spy or sabotage them, then go back on the DCMBs to report on what we're talking about or complain that they're being mistreated and that I'm some kind of board Nazi who "won't allow" any opinion that differs from my own and that I'll ban them if they "ever dare" to post.

What a load of horse$#!t.

The only things I've ever banned anyone for were the use of profanity (I don't care what anyone says, "beyotch," "bee-otch" and similar synonyms DO NOT MEAN "girlfriend"), enciting flame wars and trying to divide my forums along age lines.

I've never asked nor demanded that anyone think as I do, and anyone who claims otherwise is full of $#!t. What I DO demand a certain level of civility on my forums. If I or someone else asks a member of my forums to, say, not call me "dude," I expect that person to act like an adult and just stop, NOT make a federal case out of it.

These "guys" have called me a cyberstalker, yet I've never visited any of their message boards or websites, and I certainly don't make a habit out of reposting "creatively" edited versions of the drivel they post anywhere else on the 'net. So why do they do it to me?!?

Call me crazy, but is NOT wanting a bunch of cyberstalkers harrassing me too much to ask?

Some very sad news to report

It's with a sad and heavy heart that I announce that my mother, Nancy Finnegan, passed away in our family home today at 2:55 Phoenix time. She left behind her husband of 54 years, my father Patrick, my sisters Diana and Christina, myself, my younger brother Patrick and several grand-and great-grandchildren. She was only 71 years of age.

Mom had suffered a heart attack just before Christmas and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Her last wish was to be buried next to her mother in California, and my uncle Leland is trying to arrange things on that end. And Diana will be coming to Phoenix on Wednesday to help out.

I may not post an update for a while. I just feel so lost right now, and I miss Mom so terribly. We loved her so much, and now she's gone.

Cynthia.

AhPlace server corrupted.

Well, it was fun while it lasted ...

My current web host, AhPlace, has been hacked so many times during the last month that Otto, the owner, has decided to either sell or shut down the host he worked so hard to build.

Thanks to those Grinches (the server went down on Christmas Day) and their hacking, the server that hosted our main site, Bliss, is now so corrupted that the data is irretrievable.

I really don't blame Otto for wanting to give up on AhPlace. I went through something very similar with a Yahoo group I used to own just last year.

I gave up on The Group because several members seemed to get it into their heads that I shouldn't be allowed any sort of an opinion, good, bad or indifferent, that I stifled "free speech" on the venue & that I was some sort of puppet who aped the opinions of one of my moderators.

None of the latter were ever true, but you couldn't convince these guys of that. And if I wasn't going to be allowed an opinion, who would?

In the Meantime, I'm looking for another host to set up shop on 'til Otto decides what to do. I'll keep you updated on my progress.

Confessions of a Blog Neophyte.

Wow. I can't believe I finally really joined the 21st Century and started a blog. >Grins.< A little typing, a few clicks of the mouse and here I am.

Hopefully, I'll be using this as an alternative to the old "News" page on the main site (http://www.fawcettuniverse.ahplace.com), posting site updates and news of both the real Marvel Family and my own tweaked versions of them.
